Phạm Sơn Hà - IT Knight of 2005

According to VietnamNet, Pham Son Ha, in the cooperation with Nguyen Dinh Toan and Khuc Hai Van, set up an IT club for the blind in Hanoi at 11/01 Ta Quang Buu street where they themselves take charge of giving lessons and researching the application of software for the blind. Early this year, at the place on the second floor at n0 844, Minh Khai Road, Hanoi, provided by his family, Hai established the IT center Light Ray, and, together with Pham Dinh Thang, his brother Son Hung and Khuc Hai Van, all of who are visually handicapped like him, take turns to teach IT for the blind with free charge.
Having been a student of FIT of distance training system since 2004, Ha has made a great effort and outstanding progresses in study in spite of his troubles and difficulties in studying information technology caused by his sightlessness. He has overcome his problems in the access to the information in the computer by using a program named GAWS which has the function of describing the happenings on the screen in voice. In addition to regular lectures, twice a week, Ha also attends a private class guided by Mr. Dinh Tuan Long – a young lecturer of FIT. Ha not only shows his hardworking ness and studiousness, but also infuses the passion of study into many young people of the same situation.
Among the criteria of being an IT Knight, i.e. being the author of an useful software voluntarily dedicated to the community for free use; by different ways, popularizing the knowledge as well as the application software; setting favourable conditions to help our people with the access to and the development of benefits from IT, the helpfulness for the community, especially for the blind, has brought Ha to the prideful title of “Knight of Information Technology 2005.”
