On June 25 and 26 of 2004 the Hanoi Open University conference on praising students'' achievements in study and scientific research of the school year 2003 - 2004 was held in Thac Da resort, Ha Tay province by the Ho Chi Minh Youth and Students'' Union on behalf of the University.
The conference''s participants were the University Board of Managers, Party''s Delegation, Labour Union, managing representatives of the University''s faculties, offices and centers, as well as over 200 students of the eight faculties and two centers of regular training, on-the-job training and distance education who had outstanding accomplishments in study, scientific research and Youth and Students'' Union''s activities. In addition, there were students who had won prizes in competitions such as students'' Olympic Competition on Mark - Lenin science and Ho Chi Minh Ideology; National Olympic competition on Information Technology for students and specialist ones on economy, fashion, tourism, .etc. as well.
The delegation of Faculty of Information Technology included 32 students representing the faculty''s ebullient study and scientific research movement during the last school year, especially 5 of who had been successful competitors to the National Olympic Competition on Information Technology for students; 2 of who had won the prize in the students'' Olympic Competition on Mark - Lenin science and Ho Chi Minh Ideology. Among the 32 students were those who had actively taken part in the "Creative Computing Products Competition" annually mobilized by the Faculty''s Youth and Students'' Union.
During the conference, the students of Information Technology as well as of the other faculties enjoyed a friendly and affectionate atmosphere. As a result of an effective school year of study, scientific research, emulation and various activities, the participate students showed their eagerness and solidarity while taking part in indiscriminatory team activities such as sports, mountain climbing for sightseeing and having meals together as well. The only night of the conference was the most unforgettable for a music festival, games, drinking Can spirit - spirit in jar drunk through a stem - and bamboo pole dance - the closing activity - with the participation of a lot of students.
The second day started with a special 30-minute activity called "Country Market". Then was the ceremony on praising students'' achievements in study and scientific research with the participation of the Board of Managers, Party''s Delegation, managing representatives of the University''s faculties, offices and centers as well as the students. After the commend and reward, typical reports and the representatives'' talks, the students listened with concentration and modesty to Professor Thai Thanh Son - the Head of Faculty of Information Technology - talking about experience in study, scientific research and life as well. The students of the conference will never forget what they learnt from Professor Thai Thanh Son''s talk and will keep striving to improve their results in study, scientific research and other activities.
On the way home, the Information Technology''s students'' eyes were glistening with cheer and pride. They are ones who have been enriching the University and Faculty''s accomplishments in study, scientific research and students'' activities. In the next year''s conference there will be definitely many more such beautiful eyes.
Warm congratulations to FITHOU''s students who have gained outstanding achievements in study, scientific research and other activities during the last school year 2003 - 2004.
